| Animal Health Inspector
The Animal Control Officer serves as the Health Department's Animal Health Inspector. In addition to his responsibilities as ACO, he also assists and advises the health department with the following:
- Educating the public about laws, regulations and health and safety concerns involving animals
- Investigates complaints involving animals
- Assists in the investigation of dogs and cats involved in a biting incident
- Impounds homeless dogs and cats and coordinates efforts to locate the owner or transfer the animal to a facility to promote adoption
- Assists with the preparation and transportation of specimens for rabies testing.
- Inspects barns and conducts animal census as mandated by state law.
- Assists with the annual rabies clinic
