The Community Health Division, which includes the Dental Program, serves as a resource intended to educate, inform, protect and meet the multitude of health related needs of the community. The role of the Public Health Nurse includes the following:
  • Investigates reports of foodborne illness
  • Distributes state provided vaccine to local providers
  • Inspects immunization records for summer recreational camps for children
  • Reviews death certificates for statistical patterns of disease
  • Researches grants and funding sources
  • Coordinates programs and presentations for the community
  • Prepares press releases and news articles
  • Investigates and documents reports of communicable disease
  • Plans and implements various wellness clinics
  • Follow-ups on animal bites
  • Serves as a resource for residents, healthcare providers and school nurses
  • Involved in the mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery in a disaster through Emergency Preparedness
