The Community Health Division, which includes the Dental Program, serves as a resource intended to educate, inform, protect and meet the multitude of health related needs of the community. The role of the Public Health Nurse includes the following:
- Investigates reports of foodborne illness
- Distributes state provided vaccine to local providers
- Inspects immunization records for summer recreational camps for children
- Reviews death certificates for statistical patterns of disease
- Researches grants and funding sources
- Coordinates programs and presentations for the community
- Prepares press releases and news articles
- Investigates and documents reports of communicable disease
- Plans and implements various wellness clinics
- Follow-ups on animal bites
- Serves as a resource for residents, healthcare providers and school nurses
- Involved in the mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery in a disaster through Emergency Preparedness
