Environmental Health

The Health Department is responsible for enforcing numerous State Sanitary and Environmental Codes as mandated by State law. In addition to the mandated state regulations, the Health Department is responsible for the enforcement of local regulations.


A variety of inspections are conducted by the Environmental Division to determine compliance with said codes. Facilities and establishments inspected include, but are not limited to:
  • Food Service Establishments
  • Rental Housing Units and Lead Paint Determinations
  • Tanning Facilities
  • Body Art Establishments
  • Public and Semi-public Swimming Pools
  • Private Subsurface Sewage Disposal Systems (Title V)
  • Bathing Beaches (during the summer months)
  • Recreational Camps for Children
  • Plan review for new construction or renovations of establishments
  • Environmental Tobacco Smoke Regulations
In addition to inspections, the Environmental Division investigates complaints of rodent infestations, rubbish, noise and general nuisance complaints.
